One of the world’s most renowned animal rescue shelters, operating in the Dallas metroplex, is constantly working to ensure every pet has a home, and every owner doesn’t have to decide between food for the family and food for their furry friend.
Operation Kindness in Carrollton offers a variety of pet adoption and foster programs, along with veterinary care and community resources like low/no cost vaccine and wellness clinics. CASI Community Grants funding supported its Pet Food Support program. Operating out of both the Carrollton shelter and through mobile events in the area, volunteers provide free pet food and care items like leashes, collars, flea/tick medication and more.
With items offered at little-to-no cost to clients, the pantry aims to eliminate the most significant barrier that pet owners face, caring for their animals during times of economic struggle without sacrificing their health or the health of their beloved companion.
The needs of pet owners have grown over the years, with nearly 1,100 people receiving assistance at its start in 2023 and that number increasing to nearly 7,000 in 2024. In that time, Operation Kindness has distributed more than 397,000 pounds of food, kitty litter and basic supplies. Click here to learn more about Operation Kindness.
